Topic Well Developed !!!!!!!!!!
By JL
I am giving 5 stars to this book due to the following reasons: (1) The book is very complete on the subject. The author does not only explain based on his experience but also he is deeping enough in theory so there is a good balance. (2) The explanation on the "belief patters" is very good and this topic is interrelated in several chapters. (3) You can find very interesting statements well supported like the followings: "Being happy in the face of adversity is the best way to defeat adversity"; "When the attack is made to control the individual to whom the thoughts are directed, regardless of the reasons for such control, this psychic attack is an act of moral malpractice, more commonly referred to as black magic"; "It is always better to develop the moral nature than to simply seek spiritual power"; "The only true purpose for magical practice is for the elevation of the human soul through the demonstration of the living presence of the Creator of all things"; "Most spirits lose all of their vital energy in the first attack"; "Any attack by a spirit of the human dead is not usually successful"; "Once we have broken our negative speech habits, we can begin to break our negative thought patterns";" The person with a trained mind has few or no belief patterns within their mind. They hold nothing sacred except their Creator". (4) I have already explained in one of my previous reviews for this author, the book is well explained, clear, and with real life examples of a real magician with deep knowledge. (5) The author provides useful exercises, etc.

I wish the author could deep more in the following statement with more evidence or real examples even though it is a sensitive statement: "It might be well to point out here that those who have teachers who pass through mediums have them because they have not yet earned the right to a living spiritual teacher. True spiritual teachers are living human beings who will speak your language and who will communicate with you face-to-face".

I don't agree with the author regarding the following statement: "Possession by demons and devils is always a mental pathology" and even though I have not had any direct experience regarding this topic, I have read several books on the topic (Gabriele Amorth, Corrado Balducci, and Jose Antonio Fortea among others authors). If the author would have explained this topic deep enough to change my mind about it, I would probably have had to change my belief pattern or at least to modify it.

There is a lot of very interesting information in this book. I recommend it.

WOW
By Unjaded
I have read (I think) all of Draja's books, and hold all of them close to me, but this one actually brought me to tears. The information in this book is far more then the title reveals it self to be. The kind words at the end of chapter 7 have given me more inspiration then any book has ever given me. The human mind is an on going machine which requires conscious guidance on our end of the spectrum to achieve harmony within our selves. Thank you Draja for this publication!!!

Modeling Monetary Economies, by Bruce Champ, Scott Freeman, Joseph Haslag

The approach of this text is to teach monetary economics using the classical paradigm of rational agents in a market setting. Too often monetary economics has been taught as a collection of facts about existing institutions for students to memorize. By teaching from first principles instead, the authors aim to instruct students not only in the monetary policies and institutions that exist today in the United States and Canada, but also in what policies and institutions may or should exist tomorrow and elsewhere. The text builds on a simple, clear monetary model and applies this framework consistently to a wide variety of monetary questions. The authors have added in this third edition new material on money as a means of replacing imperfect social record keeping, the role of currency in banking panics, and a description of the policies implemented to deal with the banking crises that began in 2007.

Review
"Theory that encourages careful thinking. Applications that demonstrate relevance. All delivered in an easy yet rigorous manner. An essential text for any course in money and banking." - David Andolfatto, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis

"This is simply the best book on monetary theory with which I am familiar. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how this book belongs in the curriculum of advanced undergraduates. There is no acceptable alternative. Former students have told me that the best favor that they did for themselves, before going to graduate school in economics, was reading the earlier version of Champ and Freeman, cover to cover. In a better world, this would be the standard undergraduate macro text. The ideal course is based on Champ and Freeman, and on Russell W. Cooper, Coordination Games: Complementaries and Macroeconomics, Cambridge University Press, 1999. If you cannot do this for your intermediate students, do it for your advanced students." - John Bryant, Rice University, and CentER, Tilburg University

"This text is ingenious in the simplicity with which it is able to explain monetary phenomena while at the same time maintaining rigor. I taught out of earlier editions several times in undergraduate and MBA classes. With the addition of new topical material, the text can only be even better." - Finn E. Kydland, 2004 Nobel Prize in Economics; University of California, Santa Barbara

"I have taught both undergraduates and MBAs with both previous editions of this book and found them to be wonderful texts. Both my students and I appreciated the books' clear presentations. They are clear because they are rigorous and avoid the 'implicit theorizing' that can mystify undergraduates and MBAs." - Thomas Sargent, New York University

"Champ, Freeman, and Haslag's Modeling Monetary Economies is an excellent tool for teaching monetary economics to undergraduate students. The authors use a coherent and simple framework that can be addressed to a host of key issues in money, credit, and banking." - Stephen Williamson, Washington University in St. Louis

Engineering: A Very Short Introduction, by David Blockley

Engineering is part of almost everything we do--from the buildings we live in and the roads and railways we travel on, to the telephones and computers we use to communicate and the X-ray machines that help doctors diagnose diseases. In this Very Short Introduction, David Blockley explores the nature and practice of engineering--its history, its scope, and its relationship with art, craft, science, and technology. He begins with its early roots, ranging from Archimedes to some of the great figures of engineering such as Brunel and Marconi, right up to the modern day, describing the five ages of engineering--gravity, heat, electromagnetism, information, and systems--and showing how they relate to one another. Blockley discusses some of engineering's great achievements as well as its great disasters--such as when things went catastrophically wrong at Chernobyl--using examples of everyday tools to reveal how engineering actually works. He also looks at some of the contributions engineers will have to make in the future in order to sustain and promote human well-being.

Review
Any engineer who has spent a few years out of the classroom can benefit from reading this tiny volume as a refresher course on some basic, yet key, concepts of engineering The Tech This concise book provides excellent references for further reading and is an affordable, quick read to brush up on engineering history and its modern-day application. It is even more powerful as a tool for non-engineers to understand how intimately engineering contributes to the quality of peoples' lives - and the consequences of success or failure. A fun look at the history of engineering, but a bit superficial
By Gregory J. Casteel
I want to begin on a positive note by saying that I actually enjoyed reading this book, even though it wasn't at all what I was expecting when I ordered it. It's a pretty fun read, suitable for passing the time when you're not really in the mood for anything heavy, but still want to read something educational. It's pretty easy to read and follow, though the author does wander around quite a bit rather than sticking strictly to the subject at hand, going off on frequent tangents about philosophy, religion, and other matters that seem to have little to do with engineering. Unlike most of the other books I've read in the "Very Short Introduction" series, this book appears to have been written with younger readers in mind -- high school, or perhaps even middle school students -- explaining things in very simple terms that just about anyone should be able to understand, and not going into any of the complex technical details of the subject. The final chapter on systems engineering is a bit more abstract and philosophical than the rest, and might go over the heads of most schoolchildren; but everything else in the book is pretty simple and straightforward.

But this simplicity is also the source of my chief complaint about this book: It's far too simplistic to be of much practical use to anyone who wants to learn about engineering as a discipline. In spite of its title, this is really not so much a book about the principles of engineering as it is a book about the history of technology. It's about how technology has advanced over the centuries, and the role that engineers have played in the advancement of technology. If you're looking for a book that explains what exactly engineers do when they design and build roads, bridges, buildings, cars, airplanes, chemical plants, industrial equipment, electronic devices, computers, etc. -- how, for example, they make sure that a structure can support the loads it must bear, or that an engine can safely power a vehicle, or that an electrical device can handle a particular current without shorting out -- then I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere. This book just doesn't really discuss these sorts of things in any detail. When I ordered the book, I guess I was expecting that the contents would be more like those in the excellent course on civil engineering from The Teaching Company, "Understanding the World's Greatest Structures: Science and Innovation from Antiquity to Modernity", taught by West Point professor Stephen Ressler, which actually does go into some detail about how engineers design buildings and bridges, including a discussion of how force loads are balanced, the strength of various building materials in tension and in compression, and how structural elements can be reinforced so they don't buckle under stress, among other topics. Unfortunately, you'll find none of these topics discussed in any detail in this little book. That's because this isn't really a book about the sorts of things that engineers need to know in order to build things that work. Rather, it's a book about the sorts of things that engineers have accomplished throughout history. It's not a "how-to" guide for amateur engineers; and it's certainly not a quick-reference guide for engineering students or professional engineers. Rather, it seems to be aimed mainly at schoolchildren who are considering becoming engineers when they grow up, giving them a fairly broad overview of the sorts of things that engineers work on, but not really giving them much of a preview of what they'll need to learn once they go to engineering school. If you're not a middle school or high school student with dreams of becoming an engineer, you still may enjoy reading this book -- at least I did -- but you'll probably find it a bit too superficial to be of much practical use in helping you understand what it is that engineers actually do.

On the pillars of our craft
By Roberto Perez-Franco
[MIT's The Tech] - If you are reading The Tech, there is a good chance you have learned the basics of engineering at MIT. In which case, an invitation to read a book called Engineering: A Very Short Introduction might strike you as -- mildly put -- unnecessary. If you are the cocky type, you may even be tempted to declare, with a smile and a zinger ("Why don't you go ask the College of Cardinals to attend Sunday school?"), that this book is not for you. But you would be wrong.

Any engineer who has spent a few years out of the classroom (like yours truly) can benefit from reading this tiny volume as a refresher course on some basic, yet key, concepts of engineering: How pulleys can be used for mechanical advantage; the different stages of the Carnot cycle; how a turbo jet engine shares the same working cycles as a four-stroke piston engine; how electricity and magnetism interact to create movement in an electric motor; how silicon is used to make transistors, and these to make logic gates, and these to make flip-flops, and these to make digital arithmetic -- and computers -- possible.

Even if all these fundamental ideas from key areas within major branches of engineering are still crisp in your memory, you may still benefit from the big picture that the book offers. Blockley acknowledges six divisions of engineering activity -- civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, computing, and medical -- yet he structures his book along the five ages into which "the story of engineering naturally divides": gravity, heat, electromagnetism, information, and systems. The classification of the material into these five ages works wonderfully as a didactic mechanism.

It is only when the author himself deviates from his proposed structure that the book seems to lose steam. In particular, Chapter two, nominally on the age of gravity, is severely weakened by an unnecessarily long journey into the history of philosophy and science that consumes one-tenth of the whole book and leaves out precious gravity-related material, while pushing other details into the next chapter. With this exception, the rest of the content adheres to the structure, to great effect.

The price of the book is more than covered by chapter six alone, on the age of systems, which deals with a subject dear to the heart of those at MIT's Engineering Systems Division: complex sociotechnical systems. This chapter on systems crowns the book and left me with a deeper understanding of why systems thinking is, or should be, the new way of doing engineering -- not only because the fruits of our previous engineering efforts have grown to a level of complexity such that they have started to exhibit unexpected behaviors, but because the stakes are now higher than ever. After discussing risk in systems like nuclear plants and the power grid, Blockley goes to the heart of the matter: The defining test is climate change, where such high stakes affect our very future. "Engineers have to deliver sustainable systems," he advises, "making systems durable, repairable, adaptable, robust and resilient." As one who works within this field, all I can say is "Amen, brother! Amen."

Good brief history of engineering
By Truckee Bob
Well written and interesting, especially if you already have engineering knowledge. Most of the book was either engineering accomplishments from the past and how they have changed our lives, technical descriptions of past/existing engineering developments such as the electric motor, or descriptions of newer challenges facing modern engineers.

What I was hoping for was more of the engineering process that engineers use to develop solutions, i.e. what do engineers do. The end to end process used to develop a new medical device or to build a bridge are examples of what I mean. Not necessarily the right book to give a high school student who might be considering an engineering career.

Cinder, by Marissa Meyer

The #1 New York Times Bestselling Series!

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.

Marissa Meyer on Cinder, writing, and leading men
Which of your characters is most like you?
I wish I could say that I'm clever and mechanically-minded like Cinder, but no―I can't fix anything. I'm much more like Cress, who makes a brief cameo in Cinder and then takes a more starring role in the third book. She's a romantic and a daydreamer and maybe a little on the naïve side―things that could be said about me too―although she does find courage when it's needed most. I think we'd all like to believe we'd have that same inner strength if we ever needed it.
Where do you write?
I have a home office that I've decorated with vintage fairy tale treasures that I've collected (my favorite is a Cinderella cookie jar from the forties) and NaNoWriMo posters, but sometimes writing there starts to feel too much like work. On those days I'll write in bed or take my laptop out for coffee or lunch.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which character from Cinder would you want with you?
Cinder, definitely! She has an internet connection in her brain, complete with the ability to send and receive comms (which are similar to e-mails). We'd just have enough time to enjoy some fresh coconut before we were rescued.
The next book in the Lunar Chronicles is called Scarlet, and is about Little Red Riding Hood. What is appealing to you most about this character as you work on the book?
Scarlet is awesome―she's very independent, a bit temperamental, and has an outspokenness that tends to get her in trouble sometimes. She was raised by her grandmother, an ex-military pilot who now owns a small farm in southern France, who not only taught Scarlet how to fly a spaceship and shoot a gun, but also to have a healthy respect and appreciation for nature. I guess that's a lot of things that appeal to me about her, but she's been a really fun character to write! (The two leading men in Scarlet, Wolf and Captain Thorne, aren't half bad either.)

Review

“Singing mice and glass slippers are replaced with snarky androids and mechanical feet in this richly imagined and darkly subversive retelling of ‘Cinderella.'” ―BCCB

“This is one buzzed novel that totally delivers.” ―Stacked Books Blog

“I absolutely loved Cinder. Marissa took a well known story and created an amazingly fantastic new twist, making this it an all together new story.” ―Between the Covers Blog

“Cinder is loads of fun--mostly due to seeing a familiar story play out in a new setting, but Cinder herself is also a tough, smart, mouthy, resourceful heroine, so spending almost 400 pages with her is completely enjoyable--and I'm totally, totally looking forward to the next one in the series.” ―Bookshelves of Doom

“Terrific.” ―Los Angeles Times

“Author Marissa Meyer rocks the fractured fairy tale genre with a sci-fi twist on Cinderella.” ―The Seattle Times

“Debut author Meyer ingeniously incorporates key elements of the fairy tale into this first series entry.” ―Horn Book Magazine

“What they [readers] do not know until they begin turning the pages of this fable-turned-dystopian-science-fiction novel, is that Meyer's embellishments create a spellbinding story of their own.” ―VOYA

“First in the Lunar Chronicles series, this futuristic twist on Cinderella retains just enough of the original that readers will enjoy spotting the subtle similarities. But debut author Meyer's brilliance is in sending the story into an entirely new, utterly thrilling dimension.” ―Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Fairy tales are becoming all the rage, with the TV shows Once Upon a Time and Grimm spinning them through a modern filter. The 26-year-old Meyer's debut novel Cinder, though, combines a classic folk tale with hints of The Terminator and Star Wars in the first book of The Lunar Chronicles young-adult series due out Jan. 3.” ―USAToday.com

“Cinderella is a cyborg in this futuristic take on the fairy tale, the first book in Ms. Meyer's planned 'Lunar Chronicles' series.” ―Wall Street Journal, in a round-up called "After Harry Potter: The Search for the Magic Formula"

I don't get the hype.
By Silverscarf
The lunar chronicles is a very popular series, so many people had recommended it to me that I bought three of the four books before I had even thought about trying it. I don't usually do that with series I haven't tried yet or looked into more, I at least like to read the kindle samples. But I finally read the first book, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Cinder has all the world building that you would expect from a first book in the series, but I could have used more character development. Cinder is developed pretty well, and the supporting characters are good too, but Prince Kai is a different story. He felt like just a hollow plot device, simply used to move the political elements of the story forward while doubling as a weak love interest for the heroine. I definitely wanted to see more of him and more stuff from his POV, when we do get stuff from his POV it's just not enough, a few pages at a time, all about his duty and how he's planning to save his people while not marrying Levana. It's all that his character is there for, he doesn't do anything else. He and Cinder don't even have much of a connection, he doesn't even think about her, if I didn't know better I'd say he didn't even know she existed. Overall even though I had my problems with it, I liked it okay, maybe I'll like the second book more.

An Amazing Twist On The Original Cinderella Fairytale
By Alicia
Why, WHY did I wait so long to read CINDER???

Because I can't for the life of me figure it out!! Now, just knowing how amazing it was, and that I was denying myself the pleasure of this amazing book, just depress me!

I was enchanted by this book. I listened to almost the whole thing on audio, and believe me when I say, not only did the actual story amazed me, and the characters, and the plot line, but the narrator was amazinggggg, absolutely stunning!! She was so enticing, preforming like a painter, painting vivid visions in my mind with her alluring voice, and descriptive detail! Every character that came into the story took a new breath of life. She was able to preform and execute each character with their own voice that fitted with that character. And it allowed me to feel more attached to the characters (If it was even possible to become anymore attached then I already was) I just loved her story telling and audio performance, and I look forward to listening to SCARLET and CRESS from her voice on audio.

CINDER was just EPIC!!! Truly original and heart-throbbingly painful! It had parts where I was in awe in a hazy dream-scape of the sweet bliss and romance attempts. And parts where I wanted to bury my face in embarrassment, like the things happening to Cinder were happening to me. Like I was that connected to the book and the characters. Then there were parts where I wanted to scream!! Scream at some of the things that were happening. And I loved that I could see some of the original Cinderella story in CINDER. It was like a remix of Cinderella with plenty of original elements, but stuck to the roots of the original fairytale.

THE PLOT...

The world as we know it has changed. Scientific breakthroughs have gone through the roof with discoveries that have changed the world. Scientist have been able to do the unthinkable. They have been able to give seriously injured or near dead people a second chance at life. Only downfall? You're not all human, anymore...You'll become a, Cyborg!!!

Cinder is one of the lucky to have been given a second chance at life. Or cursed, depending on how you look at it. But either way she was given a second chance at life after a terrible incident occurred. She is now half-human & half machine. She is Cyborg!!!

AND THIS IS HER STORY!!!

Cinder lives her life shunned by society, looked-down upon for being a Cyborg, because of what she is, not who she is. And if that isn't enough, she has a terrible stepmother and stepsister that treat her like a floor-mat, stepped upon when they please. Luckily one of Cinder's two stepsisters is not like that. She treats Cinder like an equal, like a real sister should. And then there's Cinder's only real friend, and she's not even human either. She's an android. All machine programed to do what they're owner wants, but is still able to have a personality chip installed, and have some of the same characteristic traits as a human would. That is Cinder's family circle. A devil of a stepmother, a hater of stepsister, a stepsister who loves her, but won't speak up for her, and a android of a friend, Oh, and a stepfather who died. That's it, welcome to Cinder's world!

Cinder fills her days slaving as a mechanic in the New Beijing's market. Fixing androids and electrics to make money that she'll never see. Forced to immediately hand it over to her evil guardian. Well owner, because that's what she is. Her stepmother Adri owns Cinder, as does everyone else who has a Cyborg in they're home. Looked-down upon like they're an alien race. No good for nothing but serving their guardians. And that is what Cinder is, nothing! Worthless of anything... Until one day, it all changes...

Everything Cinder has ever known is about to be questioned. Out of nowhere the prince walks into her life and her heart. There's an evil queen from another plant called Luna, that's hell bent on ending their world. Killing them or turning them into mindless slaves to obtain power and control to become the ruler of their plant. And there's a plague that's sweeping through the kingdom, killing off the citizens and claiming lives no matter the cost. And on top of that, Cinder has to fight her undying affections she's feeling for the prince. Because if he ever knew what she was, he would be repulsed, disgusted by what she really is. More questions are arising then answers, but as Cinder starts to dig deeper, she starts to realize that she might just matter more then she thought, and she may be the last hope their world has, if only she can make it out, alive!

Overall, CINDER was an alluringly captivating, truly enchanting, massively impressive, mastermind of a book, that I will devour over and over again!

Well-written Sci-Fi-Dystopian-Fantasy
By D.Dunstock
Take well-written sci-fi, fuse in some fairy tale redux, set your story in a dystopian society, cast a deadly plague and aliens on the moon into the mix, add action, adventure, and romance, and bam! Cinder. I so enjoyed this book and am thrilled that there are several other novels and shorts in the series.
Cinder is living in New Beijing 126 years after World War IV has ended. She lives with her stepmother and stepsisters and is deemed an outcast to society based on her status as a Cyborg, which seems synonymous with being a heathen (although being a cyborg sounds pretty dang cool to me). Cinder can’t remember anything before the age of 11 and lives a simple life as a mechanic with Iko the android as her designated best friend.
Cinder’s life changes pretty dramatically after her sister contracts the deadly plague. Oh, and she meets a handsome prince who is about to become Emperor.
This is a must read!

Doesn't Railroad the Players
By Robert A. Howard
The Slaying Stone by Logan Bonner is a Dungeons & Dragons adventure for a group of 1st level characters designed to take the players all the way through first level. It is a standalone adventure with a straightforward premise: recover a potent magic item that can (possibly) kill anyone or anything (sufficiently low in level) nearly instantaneously. This relic, known as the Slaying Stone, lies in the ruins of a town which was overrun nearly a decade prior by an invading horde of goblins. The player characters are called on to venture into town, find the slaying stone and return it.

The module itself is 32 pages long, printed in full color on what feels like good quality paper. There are a total of thirteen encounters presented in the nice one to two page format that has become customary in 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons supplements. Also included is an eight page foldout battle-mat of the town with a crumbling old mansion on the reverse side. There is very little in the way of artwork beyond the cover art and the encounter maps, unfortunately, and there are no handouts or props aside from the battle-mat. Although, I must say as someone who is incredibly horrible at drawing on a battle grid, I really appreciate having one included with the adventure.

From an organizational perspective, this adventure is quite different from modules I have perused in the past. It's less like a traditional module and more akin to a set of detailed adventure notes and prebuilt encounters. Instead of providing a single linear path, the author sets up the plot, details the various elements and complications that are important to the story and provides a framework for the adventure to develop organically. A lot of details of the town the PCs are exploring are left to the DM's imagination, but the module provides a strong set of supporting encounters that the DM can plunk in at the appropriate time. For the experienced storyteller, this is an awesome format. I'd love to see more modules built this way, but at the same time, newer dungeon masters might have a harder time navigating their way through the story.

# My Thoughts #
I must admit that I have a long and deeply rooted bias against Dungeons and Dragons modules -- or modules of any kind, really. Oh, I've tried a few, and every time has ended poorly. My players felt railroaded, and I felt constrained by a story that left too little wiggle room for improvisation and no guidance for what happened if the players jumped tracks. I was lamenting this very complaint when it was suggested that I take a look at this module as an example of how module building could be approached differently.

Indeed, I think that The Slaying Stone does an excellent job of avoiding the pitfalls of the typical prewritten adventure. I like what they have done with the format and I hope to see more of it in future modules. The included foldout battle-mat is also definitely a win, and the production quality of the book and the mat could only be judged as superb. However, I am disappointed with the lack of handouts or illustrations for important scenes. Perhaps this is a relic of days gone by -- do modern modules not include these sorts of things anymore? Ah well, it is still a good adventure. It just would be even better with a bit more art support.

A decent module
By J. Beighel
This module is different from the previous ones published by Wizards of the Coast. Up till now their modules were very linear, and the DM had to lead the players from one area to the next. This one presents an area that is more of a sandbox. Several areas are outlined and a few encounters are explained for each one. This gives the players far more freedom to explore and complete the adventure in their own way.

There is a downside to this freedom. The book is much smaller then the previous modules, which means a good deal of the areas and encounters are missing. This may not be an ideal module for a first time DM since it will require a bit more effort to make it work. For an more experienced DM it could be a good choice since it allows you to fill in a lot more of the details to get the module to match with your campaign's story.

Should be fun
By Lance
Clearly, based upon the title of my review, I have not yet played the adventure. However, there were a few points that I thought I should mention immediately. First, unlike many of the earlier modules, this module is designed only to take characters from 1st to 2nd level (as opposed to Keep on the Shadowfell, which ends with characters at 3rd/4th level). The difference being that it is a much shorter module. In order for characters to advance an equivalent number of levels it will cost substantially more than in previous modules.

On the flip side, this module shows some positive tweaking by WoC. Rather than planting a specific magic item as treasure, they have switched to giving the DM the choice of which item is best for their characters. They list the treasure as simply "Level 2 Magic Item". They also changed the format of the Monster/NPC stat blocks, by grouping the Standard, Move, and Minor actions together under the appropriate heading. This seems like it will make it easier to recognize your options when running the encounter. Lastly, they added a "Parcel and Quest Checklist" at the end of the module, which seems like it will make it easier to keep track of what treasure/quests the characters have received.

The author of The Slaying Stone, Logan Bonner, has allowed plenty of room for improvisation by experienced players/DM's. For Novice DM's however, it may not be the easiest module to run, as it seems like it will require a lot of "thinking on your feet" and spontaneity.

My main reason for only giving the module three stars was the sense of value. I was expecting a longer module, more along the lines of KotS. I was a little disappointed at how quickly I read through it, only then realizing that buying the additional modules in this series will end up costing a lot more than one of the earlier modules, which provides equivalent progress for the party.

Cengage Advantage Books: Bioethics in a Cultural Context: Philosophy, Religion, History, Politics, by Vincent Barry

BIOETHICS IN A CULTURAL CONTEXT--PHILOSOPHY, RELIGION, HISTORY, POLITICS presents a unique, philosophical approach to modern bioethics. Rather than simply setting up debates about contemporary issues, this book recognizes that many of today's bioethical controversies are tied to profound underlying questions fundamental as: "When does life begin and end?" "What is a human being or person?" "What is life's purpose?" "What is the ideal society?" The book is comprehensive and accessible, featuring a wide range of content that is crisply presented and clearly explained. A multitude of interesting examples and cases provides ample opportunity for discussion, debate, and research.

Decent text
By S
This book has several different perspectives and appears to take a mostly neutral approach. I would certainly recommend this text for an Ethics/Bioethics class. However, I wish there could be more illustrations because it was rather unattractive having only words.

BUY A PHYSICAL COPY! Don't bother with this terrible DRM.
By S.A.
Works on the "PC reader" but not the win8 app, works on android tablets but not android phones, works on ipads but not iphones. This is DRM at its finest. The book is great. What you get for the digital copy is garbage. Just buy a physical copy.
