This is the plain text of I and II Maccabees. There is no commentary. It uses nice, accessible English. I have enjoyed reading it. The good thing is that it is kindle and so one can highlight and add comment to your heart's content. The difficulty is that there is no index and there are no page numbers, only location numbers. The latter makes it difficult when trying to cite for research purposes. Of course, this is not the kind of book one needs elsaborate citation for - chapter and verse will do, and one does not need to remember long location numbers as cutting and pasting automatically brings up the location number. All in all a good, basic text product.

I enjoy reading the books and find the stories very interesting and thought provoking although not included in the Holy scripture there is some information of significance to be found.
